Gourmet Lot

Gourmet Lot

A magnificent terroir

Just mention Quercy or Périgord, and mouth-watering meals spring to mind.

Truffles, foie gras, farm-bred lamb and duck confit, Rocamadour goat’s cheese and Quercy melons are full of promise.

Restaurants, markets and purveyors of fine foods are all around, and all are of excellent quality.

The Lot markets

Open air markets, particularly the one right by the cathedral in Cahors on Saturday mornings, are a must. Prayssac has a great local producers market on Fridays.

If you like black truffles (Tuber melanosporum) the truffle market in Lalbenque is open each Tuesday from December to March.

For your diary: the ‘Lot of Saveurs’ festival, a great meeting place for chefs and gourmets, takes place every year in the first week of July.
